1ST LIST OF UNION BLOCK BRICKS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The word is out!
The Union Block Brick has taken off, thanks to Local #401. “This idea has given us a theme for the Ironworkers Walk of Fame”, states Mackinaw City Village Manager, Jeff Lawson. “We wanted the Ironworkers to be a part of the design and placement, and now that vision has become a reality”, says Lawson. Union #401 requested a larger display, referred to as a "Union Block Brick", and Village officials are using that design to create a path theme for all locals.
Below is a list of the 1st Local Unions in phase one of the Union Block Brick project.
Local Union # 401 – Philadelphia, PA
Local Union # 16 – Baltimore, MD
Local Union # 508 – Detroit, MI
Local Union # 29 – Portland, OR
Local Union # 700 – Ontario, Canada
District Council of Ontario, Canada
Local Union # 63 - Broadview, IL
Local Union # 67 – Des Moines, IA
With the purchase of a Union Block Brick, Local Unions will help the Village of Mackinaw City designate an area for their members and at the same time create a walking theme to the monument area. As promised, for Local #401, any subsequent Inductee Bricks purchased by individual Ironworkers will be placed adjacent to the corresponding Union Block Brick.
Order forms for the Union Block Brick are available at www.walkofiron.com
Ironworkers and Mackinac Bridgemen that purchase a specially designed and engraved paver brick, will be inducted in the Ironworkers Walk of Fame, at an induction ceremony. The paver brick, with the inductees personalized information, will be imbedded in the sidewalks adjacent to a monument area on North Huron Avenue in Mackinaw City. In addition to the paver brick, a mini-brick, identical to the purchased brick, will be presented at the induction ceremony. www.walkofiron.com also records the legacy of each individual inductee with a biography and the inductees Top 5 favorite jobs.
